Musketeers (ages 7-10)
New Musketeers classes are forming in January of 2020. The Musketeer classes between January 6 & 15 of 2020 are all FREE TRIAL sessions. Attend up to 2 classes during this free trial window to see if fencing is a good fit for you! RSVPs for free trials are appreciated but not required. Schedule Monday and Wednesday, 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm The Musketeers program offers rolling enrollment. Contact AFC to schedule a free trial lesson, which teaches your fencer the basics for joining the ongoing class. Description For our youngest fencers with no prior fencing experience. Musketeers learn basic footwork and bladework in a setting that emphasizes fun and fitness. Games and drills build fencing skills as young fencers develop balance, coordination, quick reactions, self-discipline, concentration, and strategic thinking. Cost: $120/month + $100 annual registration fee Cavaliers (ages 11-14)

Schedule Tuesday and Thursday, 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm The Cavaliers program offers rolling enrollment. Contact AFC to schedule a free trial lesson, which teaches your fencer the basics for joining the ongoing class. Description The Cavaliers ongoing class provides a solid foundation of fencing technique for young fencers with no prior experience. In this comprehensive program, fencers learn both the physical and mental elements of fencing, which are taught through drill, games, and bouting. Fencers develop balance, coordination, quick reactions, self-discipline, concentration, and strategic thinking. Cost: $120/month + $100 annual registration fee Intermediate Foil
Tuesday and Thursday: Ages 7-10: 5 pm to 6:30 pm Ages 11+: 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm For fencers with some experience. Improve physical fitness with a fun and challenging workout while building fencing skills. This on-going program includes advanced footwork and drills, physical conditioning, fencing strategy, and competitive bouting. Fencers continue to build their refereeing skills, in order to enhance their understanding of advanced fencing tactics. Cost: $120/month + $100 registration fee USFA Membership is required
For insurance purposes, the United States Fencing Association requires anyone fencing in a USFA-accredited fencing club to be a USFA member. Register online through the USFA website here. Please bring proof of USFA membership to your first day of class. When you join the USFA, your club is Austin Fencers Club and your division is South Texas. USFA membership is for the fencer, i.e. your child, and must be made in the child's name, not the parent's. |
