Assistant Coach James Lo

Assistant Coach James Lo started fencing in Fall of 1994 as a freshman in the University of Texas at Austin. James was coached by 1984 Olympian Vincent Bradfard of Texas Fencing Academy, the previous USFA Coach's College Director. Attracted to the speed and game of foil, James is a dedicated foil fencer. Beside training with Vinny at TFA, James was also heavily involved in the UT Fencing Club, training under Maître Eric Mallet between 1994 to 1997, as a member of the dominating UTFC foiling team. During summers, James trained in Salle Mauro in Houston Texas, working with famed Egyptian foil coach Mauro Hamza.

James had competed in local and national levels, winning many local tournaments and ranked as high as 35th in foil nationally. Some of his recent results included winning 2004/2005 Poujardieu memorial, 2004 Crescent City Open and 2004 Oz Parson Memorial. James is currently rated A 2005 in foil.

James worked with many students in UTFC, giving foil lessons. Some of his students included Thomas Hill, Eric Musico, Chris Rogers and Nick Jew.

Besides fencing, James is currently running a home/building automation company in Austin, after his master's degree in Architectural Engineering. Some of his other interests include golf, snow boarding, beach volleyball and computer games.
