Maître Eric Mallet, from Paris, graduated in 1986 from France's prestigious Ecole
Nationale de Maîtres d'Armes (the National School of Fencing Masters). He is the only French
Fencing Master in the state of Texas. He also has a Master's Degree in Physical Education.
Maître Mallet competed at an international level in Europe for many years. He has competed in
the world-renowned Challenge Martini (now CIP) in Paris and was a member of France's Junior National
Team.
Maître Mallet was the Head Fencing Coach at the University of Texas from 1991 to 2000, and led
the University of Texas team to five first-place finishes in the Texas Collegiate Championships and
two second-place finishes.
He has led many area fencers to success at the national level, including National Champions in
Division II Women's Foil, Veteran Women's Épée, Under-10 Men's Foil, and Division II
Women's Épée. Maître Mallet also promotes success at an international level,
including a World Champion in Veteran Men's Sabre, and a silver medalist in Veteran Women's
Épée World Championships. Ma�tre Mallet served as Head Coach/Team Manager for the
U.S. National Veteran's Team at the Veterans World Championships in 2000.
He has developed youth fencing programs at many schools in the Austin area, teaching fencers from
kindergarten to the 8th grade.
