Adult & Teen Fencing Classes

Coronavirus Update:
- Adult Beginner Classes Temporarily Suspended
- Individual Lesson Option Added For Adult Beginners

AFC has temporarily suspended our Adult Beginner classes, as we work to develop safe scheduling and equipment protocols for our adults. If you are an adult who has fenced before, contact us for info on how to join one of our ongoing programs.

Individual Lessons for Beginning Fencers
For prospective fencers with little or no experience, we are offering a limited schedule of 1:1 introductory lessons. The goal of the 1:1 lessons is to teach new fencers the basics so that they can quickly join our ongoing group, as an alternatively to waiting until we resume group classes for adults.
  • Lessons are half an hour and cost $30 apiece.
  • One additional person from your personal circle can attend your lesson at no extra charge - for example if you are interested in learning to fence with a friend, spouse, child (age 13+), etc.
  • Fencers should wear a T shirt, sport shoes, and sweatpants to the lesson
  • Please review our COVID-19 protocols before signing up.
  • Lessons are currently available on Monday evenings. Click here to view the calendar and/or sign up - use the arrow keys to move to later weeks as needed.

AFC's Plans for Resuming Group Classes
See below for our class details and tentatively planned timeframes for new classes. This info is subject to change based on COVID developments. The Sign Up links will be activated once our schedule and equipment protocols are in place. Thank you for your patience!

USFA Membership is required
For insurance purposes, the United States Fencing Association requires anyone fencing in a USFA-accredited fencing club to be a USFA member.  Register online through the USFA website here. Please bring proof of USFA membership to your first day of class.

When you join the USFA, your club is Austin Fencers Club and your division is South Texas.

USFA membership is for the fencer, so if you are a parent signing up your child, the membership must be made in the child's name, not the parent's.
